Dear Parents/Carers,

We are very pleased to inform you that your child has the exciting opportunity to become a Mental Health Champion. The Mental Health Champion Training Programme is an engaging and empowering learning journey that teaches students advanced insights into caring for their own mental health as well as supporting their peers. Once students have graduated, they will have the knowledge and skills they need to make a positive impact in school and in their community.

Through this journey students will learn and experience:

  • A deeper understanding of their own mental health
  • The 5 key skills and 5 qualities of a great Mental Health Champion
  • Evidence based approaches to caring for their own mental health
  • Opportunities to practice and role play strategies
  • How to be a peer advocate for mental health
  • Develop an action plan of how they can promote positive mental health around the school
  • Be apart of the ‘Brain Awareness’ Campaign 2024

Applications for the programme will open this module for a September 2023 start. Students will be informed of all details / opportunities during assemblies and tutor time. We will also be holding an information event for you and your child to attend in Module 6. Please note that the 2-day training course will take place at school.

Again, this is an exciting opportunity for students, and we thank you in advance for your support in their application. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. S. Shepley
