Personal Development at Longfield Academy

Our Vision – Achieve Beyond Expectations

At Longfield Academy School, our ethos is underpinned by our three core values of Respect, Aspiration and Care. We develop our students to become positive contributors to a democratic society and well rounded global citizens, equipped with the skills to succeed anywhere.

The school teaches pupils to appreciate inclusivity and this helps them to behave respectfully towards others. Pupils are taught about citizenship, relationships, well-being and staying safe, including when online. – Ofsted 2023

Respect

We teach our students to embody the Fundamental British Values that uphold British Society and allow us to live in a safe and peaceful society in Great Britain. These include respect, democracy, liberty, law and tolerance of faiths. We ensure our students recognise the protected characteristics which have been declared by law to ensure people are not discriminated against based on their age, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, disability, race or nationality, religion, marital status, civil partnership or pregnancy.

Aspiration

We have an ambitious, proactive and engaging careers programme, which explores the vital role our careers and personal ambitions play in determining the quality of our life, wellbeing and personal feeling of fulfilment, achievement and success. Dedicated careers lessons are delivered termly, please view our Careers Programme for more detail. Our students benefit from a yearly careers fair, to which several service providers attend, including Access Ambulance, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, Ebbsfleet Development Corporation, Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust, Kent County Council, LAT Apprenticeships & more. Please visit our careers fair webpage for more information.

Care

Our students are taught the value of caring for themselves, other people and their environment. This includes ongoing education of online safety, healthy relationships, sex education, mental health & wellbeing. Please view our PSHE/RSE policy for more information. Our PSHE/RSE programme benefits from a yearly consultation with our parents, staff and students. A video recording is also shared with anyone who is unable to attend.

Please see the video of our last consultation.
