Year 11 Pre-Public Exams (PPEs)

A small group of Post-16 Longfield Academy students sit together whilst working on computers.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Firstly, I wanted to say thank you to those parents who attended our Year 11 Information Evening this week and I hope you found the information on how to support your child useful. The slides for this will be published on our website as well as put onto the Year 11 google classroom so all students have access to this information to refer to.

As you are aware, from our Year 11 Information Evening, we will be holding the first round of PPE’s (Pre-Public Exams) in November. These exams are crucial in preparing students for the rigour of the real GCSE exams as well as providing both teachers and students with crucial information on areas of strength and areas for development to improve understanding.

Next module we will be holding progression interviews with all of our Year 11 students which will enable us to guide students and provide support where needed with regards to the next stage in their journey. This will also give our students extra targets to aim for to ensure they meet the requirements for their Post-16 education.

In order to support your child through these PPEs and with the preparation for them we would highly recommend that all students create a revision timetable that is realistic for them to be able to stick to, as well as completing all additional work that has been set by teachers either as homework or as revision. We have also been offering after school intervention, Saturday intervention and October half term sessions in a number of subjects. It is important that if your child has been invited to one of these sessions they attend, as these are designed to plug any gaps in knowledge and provide extra support where needed. In tutor time students have been and will be covering a number of revision techniques to aid them with their revision.

Please see below a copy of the PPE timetable for November.

Thank you for your continued support and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the school and your child’s form tutor.

Yours faithfully,

Mr M Shaw
Vice Principal | Head of Matisse College
