Jeans for Genes Day

A member of staff sits at a computer with a male student, discussing work together.

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are organising a Jeans for Genes day on Friday the 23rd of September. On this day only, students will be permitted to wear a pair of denim trousers to school to support our fundraising efforts for children and families living with genetic disorders. Any students who choose to take part must wear the rest of their school uniform correctly, i.e. Longfield blazer, black school shoes (no trainers). Students who choose not to take part in Jeans for Genes day must wear their full school uniform as normal.

We encourage all of our students to be caring, of themselves and also the community and wider world. To demonstrate empathy, compassion, respect and a commitment to service and action to make a positive difference in the lives of others and in the world around them. Students are encouraged to bring in money to donate. Your support and encouragement with this as parents and carers will be greatly appreciated.

Jeans for Genes Day is an annual fundraising campaign which is aimed at supporting families and individuals affected by genetic disorders. The campaign raises money through a variety of activities in order to provide grants to organisations which transform the lives of children living with genetic disorders. Genetic disorders affect one in 25 children in the UK. This means that in the UK, 30,000 babies and children are newly diagnosed each year.

Donations may also be made online via the JustGiving page linked below. We hope to make a significant contribution. Thank you all for your continued support.
