Student voice is an integral part of life at Longfield Academy. In line with British values, we promote a democratic approach in our community where students are able to express their views through representatives who have been elected. It is important that all students are represented and heard.
Student Leadership Group
Longfield Academy has a dedicated Student Leadership Group who are elected at the end of each academic year and serve for one year, representing their college and year group. These students are responsible for sharing their peers’ thoughts and ideas at regular meetings with Dr Donkor and Mrs Kyriacou.
Our current Student Leadership Group have made fantastic improvements to the academy, including securing the purchase of table tennis tables and requesting the return of the Student LGBTQ+ Support Group. The group has also been involved in the recruitment process for new members of staff to the academy, as well as taking part in external research for children’s mental health charities. We are really excited to see what else they do!
Through roles such as ‘eco reps’ and student leaders, pupils play a meaningful part in school life. They know that staff are keen to listen to their views and will act on them.. – Ofsted 2023
Student Voice Surveys
Throughout the year, all students within the academy have the opportunity to complete surveys asking for their opinion on Longfield’s curriculum, teaching and learning, enrichment, safeguarding and general academy life. The results of these surveys are discussed with the Senior Leadership Team and actions taken.
If you would like to know more about the student voice opportunities at Longfield Academy, please contact Mrs Kyriacou in Galileo College.
