Sixth Form Dress Code

All students should dress in a formal business-like manner as appropriate for a professional environment. All our post-16 students are expected to adhere to these dress code regulations.

Not Permitted

  • Students should wear a formal cardigan, tailored jacket or blazer
  • Students who choose to wear a suit are required to wear a formal collared shirt and tie, a formal jumper with no obvious logos, or a blouse
  • Tailored trousers or skirt.
  • Skirts or dresses must be of an office-appropriate length (ie: no more than 3 inches above the knee)
  • Formal shoes
  • Any jewellery must be discreet
  • Any make-up must be discreet
  • Headscarves, if worn, must be plain in colour with no pattern.
  • Items made of leather, PVC look or denim
  • Leggings or shorts
  • Knee-high socks
  • Vest tops or ‘strappy’ tops
  • Short skirts (ie: no more than 3 inches above the knee)
  • Exposed midriffs or undergarments
  • Inappropriate footwear, including flip flops, crocs (or similar), UGG boots (or similar) backless heels or trainers
  • Any other item or garment deemed unprofessional or inappropriate by the Director of Post-16 or the academy Senior Leadership

Please note:

  • Coats and jackets are permitted, but must not be worn inside the building
  • Mobile phone use is not permitted around the academy, with the exception of the Sixth Form Study Centre. Study periods allocated should be focused and distraction free.
  • All students at the academy, including those in post-16, are required to adhere to the academy behaviour policy, which includes a list of items prohibited on site. You can find this document on our policy page. 

Failure to adhere to the Sixth Form Dress Code may result in the student being taken out of circulation or sent home.
